We arrived in Kuala Lumpur after a three hour flight and headed to “hotel Geo“. An OK hotel in a fantastic location, on the edge of China Town.
It’s very humid here in KL and when the sun gets through the cloudy skies, it’s downright sizzling!

Indonesia to Malaysia
We came here mainly to get some admin stuff sorted out and expected to need about a week. As it was, within two days we had a Malaysian driving licence, a PO Box and banking issues settled.
Because the business language here is English and because the people go out of their way to help, getting official things done turned out to be a pleasure rather than the nightmare we were expecting.
Now it was time to enjoy ourselves. China town is such a vibrant place and we love wandering around the stalls and food halls.
The food is incredible, tasty and strange and we’re busy working our way through the stalls. Couldn’t bring ourselves to try these cute amphibians though!

KL is a shoppers paradise. The huge malls house boutiques from every designer label imaginable, but if you don’t want to spend that kind of money, you can go to China Town and get the same thing (nearly 🙂 ) for a fraction of the price.
Then there are shops like this:
After 3 days we moved hotels to be in KLCC (city centre). We discovered the fabulous Fraser Residence. It’s brand new, so we got a good deal and were upgraded to the 35th floor and a one-bedroom apartment with a view to die for.
The Petronas Towers dominate the skyline and are so beautiful (and shiney)
One of life’s great coincidences. We were wandering through the Petronas shopping centre today, when I felt a tap on my shoulder and lo and behold, there was our friend and former colleague Angie! Stopping over for a few days before heading on to New Zealand. What are the chances? It was great seeing you Angie!
We fly to Borneo tomorrow so next post will be from an even more humid Sarawak, Kuching.
Again…amazing pictures!!! It becomes a habit…meeting colleagues at the other end of the world:-)))) XX

Happy Kuching… My first picture I remembered from Sarawak was… a huge commercial poster for French actor… Alain Delon (for cigarettes…), just after getting out the plane in Kuching. I know you will do it… Stay in the long house, in the forest 😉
